It’s A DK Weekend

I meant to post some more updates by now, but this week has been pretty much bogged down in Dirty Kanza preparations and other priorities.  I have about 15-20 new B roads to post, along with pictures, and I expect to get those up Monday night at the latest.  Until then…

B Road Map Posted

I’ve finally got the very early rude-and-crude map posted. I’ve only charted five B roads around the Mount Vernon, IA area for now while I iron this thing out. I’ve added a couple pics and a video to the map to see how it’s working out and I’ll be adding more over the next week or so. The link to the map is listed up in the site header, but you can also get to it by clicking HERE.  At this point I’m welcoming any feedback you may have.  You can leave it in the comments or email me at craig@projectbackroads.com.

Thanks folks.  I hope to have this powered up and running full steam before too long.

Humble Beginnings

Well folks, I’d like to welcome you to the beginning of something I’m pretty excited about…  Project: Backroads.  Project: Backroads (P:BR) was started with the intention of mapping out and documenting all the B maintenance/minimum maintenance roads in Iowa and the surrounding areas.  As far as I can tell, nothing like this currently exists and that left me doubting the mighty magical powers of the interwebs.  Well, over the next few months (years?) I aim to do something about that.  Within the next week look for custom maps to be posted on this site detailing B maintenance roads and other points of interest.  Whenever possible I’ll be including the following info along with the points of interest shown on the maps:

  • Pictures
  • Videos
  • Descriptions
  • Other stuff

While this site is initially focused towards the gravel grinder crowd, I’m hoping it can grow into something that’ll be useful for anyone who wants to get outside and explore their area a bit more.  Check back every now and then to see how it’s going.

Daylight’s burning.  Time to get out there for a ride…
